Abstract
Purpose: Women with increased mammographic breast density are known to be at higher risk of developing breast cancer. We have examined the associations of age, body mass index(BMI), breast size and mammographic density in Korean women.

Materials and Methods: From April to September 2007, a retrospective review of data collected from 500 asymptomatic women was conducted in our hospital. Mean age was 52 year-old(range:33-76 year-old). Multiple linear regression modeling was used to examine the association between density and age/BMI/breast size.

Results: Mammographic breast density significantly decreased with increasing ages(p<0.001). Also mammographic breast density significantly decreased with increasing BMI (p<0.001). But correlation between breast size and breast density did not show statistical significance. When except small breast size, breast density decreased significantly with increasing breast size (p=0.072).

Conclusion: Mammographic breast density shows negative correlation with age and BMI. Mammographic breast density tend to decreased with increasing breast size.
